According to a recent blog on HR Times, U.S. manufacturing is experiencing an uptick after years of struggling. Such progress is allowing many manufacturers the freedom to rethink and transform their human resources functions and processes. Rather than sticking to the traditional tactical approach, companies are beginning to aim at attracting, developing and retaining talent.
Growth in manufacturing is one of the reasons why MASPark is partnering with Ivy Tech Corporate College to offer the Advanced Manufacturing OE2 Program for regional manufacturing workers. The Open Entry/Open Exit (OE2) program gives employers the ability to customize content to meet their own particular training needs, with the flexibility to adapt the curriculum to match each employee’s training level.
As HR Times explains, companies are realizing that a cadre of leaders is needed to bring a variety of skills and talents to the table. Successful manufacturers are also addressing labor shortages by developing and retaining people who have the right skills and motivation.
The OE2 program focuses on helping manufacturing workers develop job-ready skills. The self-paced courses allow students to complete the classes without having to disrupt work schedules. Participants can complete the Web-based modules at home, work or in the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center at MASPark during scheduled hours.
