The next round of classes at the Ivy Tech Welding Institute in Scottsburg will begin in January 2016. The institute offers a 32-week program that includes instruction and hands-on lab activities. Classes meet 30 hours per week (7.5 hours per day). The institute focuses on technology, with math, reading, and writing exercises embedded in class projects.
After completing the program, individuals will earn a Technical Certificate in Industrial Technology and will be prepared to test for certifications, administered by the American Welding Society, that are valued by employers. The Welding Institute is designed to accelerate individuals to a career; however, credits can be applied toward an Ivy Tech Associates of Applied Science degree in Industrial Technology.
Students will have limited homework, due to the intensity of the program. Assignments can be done in class. Much of the training provided will be in the new state-of-the-art welding lab at the Mid-America Science Park in Scottsburg.
Individuals are encouraged to apply now because classes are filling up. Classes begin in January and August. Click here for the January class schedule.
