The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released a new “Hoosier Hot 50” jobs list. The list compiles the state’s 50 highest paying and most in-demand jobs. Included on the list are jobs in manufacturing, healthcare and IT. View the Hot 50 jobs list here.
The list is also broken down by economic region. According to the DWD, there are a number of job openings in high demand fields in Southern Indiana (Region 10), home of the Mid-America Science Park in Scottsburg.
The list was released just in time for National Manufacturing Day, recognized on Oct. 2, 2015. Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing that aims to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
The Mid-America Science Park serves employers who offer ongoing training and certification opportunities to employees, and professionals and students seeking to advance their skills in fields such as advanced manufacturing. With approximately 3,500 square feet of training space, MASPark’s Training and Workforce Development Center includes an Amatrol lab for advanced manufacturing technology and green energy training, a 25-seat computer classroom, and a wide range of equipment to facilitate hands-on learning.
Ivy Tech and Indiana University Southeast also offer a number of courses at MASPark in Scottsburg. Recognizing a need for more welders both locally and nationally, the Scott County Economic Development Corporation and the City of Scottsburg partnered with Ivy Tech Corporate College to open a Welding Institute in 2014.
